On Sunday, 24 April 2022 our Chief Executive, Lee Pickering and Estimating Director, David Tipping will be participating in the ABP Southampton 10k Run, in honour of our dear friend and colleague, Mark Harry. Mark sadly passed away on 15 February 2021 following a battle with COVID and suffering a stroke on 14 February 2021. Lee and David have set up this Event Page so they can raise even more funds for The Stroke Association, in tribute of Mark Harry. The impact of a stroke can be completely life altering. The Stroke Association support stroke survivors and rebuild lives after stroke, but they need our help to continue to do that. Every donation makes a difference to help fund better treatments and make sure everyone gets the care they need. By making a donation you’ll help raise awareness too so that in future, fewer people’s life story ends with a stroke. • £10 could allow a stroke survivor to attend an art therapy group; a setting in which communication and creativity are used to encourage both recovery and quality of life. • £56 could cover the costs of setting up a new volunteer, so they are ready to support voluntary groups in their community. • £130 could help pay for research into new stroke treatments, as they did with thrombolysis – a clot-busting drug that returns the blood supply to the brain, a treatment that has greatly helped stroke survivors who have received it. • £250 could pay for one hour of Helpline activity, helping the families of stroke survivors support their loved ones after stroke. • £525 could help pay for a block of communication support workshops, empowering stroke survivors to achieve the best possible level of communication, improving confidence and independence. Still to this day we are shocked and saddened on how quickly Mark was taken from us and we would be delighted if you would join us in making a donation to the Stroke Association to help them continue with their fantastic research and to provide support for people affected by the aftermath of a stroke.
